The next social photo walk will be on Saturday 27 June 2026, 2-4pm. This month we'll be walking the Edinburgh FUJIFILM Photo Trail from 1993. We'll meet outside the Playfair Monument on Calton Hill.
In the 1990s, Fuji and the Edinburgh tourist board set up phototrails of all the picturesque shots in Edinburgh. They produced a leaflet in 1993 guiding tourists round the most photogenic points in the city.
Nowadays, the trail is forgotten, but still exists as brass plaques embedded in the pavement.
There are two main routes, New Town and Old Town. On this walk we'll be focusing on the New Town Trail, but maybe we'll try and pick off a few points on the Old Town Trail as well since they're close by.
From what I can find out, there are a number of plaques which no longer exist but we'll do our best to find the ones that are still there.
